About

Lakeshia is an artist who lives and works in NC. She received a B.S. in Graphic Design from Elizabeth City State University and worked as a Graphic and Web Designer for a decade before transitioning to art full time. Her background as a designer helps her create works that nod to the fantastical while offering interpretations of #BlackGirlMagic – a phrase/movement that celebrates positive messages and images of black women.

She is also owner of 311 Gallery in Raleigh, NC where she hosts exhibitions for local and national artists.

Reverie Redefined

As part of the exhibit, the NCMA has commissioned three local artists as part of its “Mucha/Inspiring Beauty” campaign to reinterpret the artist’s designs while answering the question “What does beauty mean to you?”
